They were basically acting the equivalent of if I refused to let someone clip my fingernails if it meant feeding a starving human traveler somehow. There was such a thing as treating what would normally be inanimate objects like people in Oz because they basically *are* like people. Mind you, this is a universe where the apple trees got offended that someone was picking them. Clearly, some assholes decided to nail a sentient, talking, curious Scarecrow to a pike and basically informed him expressly or by implication that he needed to succeed at his job of scaring crows away from the corn. However, the Scarecrow is just a little more sympathetic and resonant. However, this twist occurs with Tinman and the Lion too. However, the twist in the Scarecrow is that he's the brains of the operation who thinks that he's the dunce of the operation for most of the movie. I'm usually a sucker for the "brains of the operation" character on any given fictional team. However, some of the answers demanded a nod to Wicked. I tried to limit the Wicked thinking because this is about Wizard of Oz, though. However, I am also a big fan of Wicked, the musical and it's influenced how I see Wizard of Oz. I tried to limit most of my answers to straight up Wizard of Oz. Anyway, I pressed on because the Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite childhood film characters. The Busby Berkley musicals that I did see and like ( 42nd Street and Annie Get Your Gun), I saw on the stage and didn't have that film director/choreographer at the helm.īusby Berkley did have a minor directing role in Wizard of Oz- so I'm hoping this counts as a worthy character meme for velvetwhip. However, I hadn't seen a lot of his musicals. Velvetwhip prompted me for a Busby Berkley musical.
